Μikro Horio

It is built on the hills of Livadia. It was the old capital of the island and was first inhabited in the 15th century by the Knights of the Order of Saint John. It offers a wonderful view of the bay.

It was abandoned completely on the 1960 and its inhabitants gradually began to move to the port as early as the 1930s.
Today, the walls of the houses are preserved and the arrangement of the houses proves their proper settlement in the ”ghost” village-as it is called.  The church of Ηοly Zone which was built in 1861 is in a very good condition. If you visit the village in the evening, you may enjoy a drink under the silver moon at the unique bar of the village.

A big feast is held on the 14th of August on the eve of the Virgin Mary’s Assumption and chickpeas, taramosalata and olives are offered to all the pilgrims.
